Lancaster General Health is a not-for-profit health system with a comprehensive network of care, including more than 300 primary-care and specialty physicians, outpatient and urgent care services, and four hospitals. Its membership in Penn Medicine brings together the strengths of a world-renowned, not-for-profit academic medical center and a nationally recognized, not-for-profit community health care system.

The challenge

Lancaster General Health contacted Scality because its EMC Isilon (file) and Atmos (object) environments had become difficult to manage and unreliable with serious system and service disruption.

With a hardware refresh on their roadmap, they considered alternatives to replace EMC file and object storage for their McKesson PACS. Going software-defined is an overall strategic goal for the organization, so Scality solutions were a natural fit.
