Providing secure, scalable, and locally hosted cloud and IT services to Oman’s most critical industries is the core mission of Oman Data Park (ODP). The company works collaboratively with more than 800 clients across sectors such as government, energy, telecom, and financial services — all of which rely on ODP for dependable, incountry digital infrastructure.

ODP also plays a leading role in advancing Oman’s Vision 2040 digital transformation initiative — a national effort to foster innovation, build a knowledge-based economy, and accelerate public-private collaboration in digital modernization. In this context, ODP serves as a strategic enabler, delivering infrastructure that supports economic diversification, strengthens national cybersecurity, and ensures seamless, secure IT service delivery across the enterprise and public sector landscape.

As digital adoption and ODP’s customer base continued to grow, so did the demand for secure, compliant storage — both for primary workloads and backup — hosted entirely within Oman’s borders to meet national data sovereignty requirements. However, legacy infrastructure began to constrain performance, scalability, and compliance. Procuring new hardware introduced added cost and deployment delays. At the same time, ODP’s clients — many operating in highly regulated sectors — required modern backup and recovery solutions that could meet ISO/IEC 27001 and national cybersecurity standards. Maintaining full cyber resilience and regulatory compliance was not optional; it was essential for earning and keeping the trust of customers operating at the heart of Oman’s critical IT infrastructure.

ODP selected Scality RING as the foundation for its modern, cyber-resilient, S3-compatible object storage to power its growing data and backup-as-a-service offerings. Seamless integration with Veeam Backup & Replication — ODP’s trusted enterprise backup and recovery platform — enabled the team to expand services quickly without disrupting existing systems. By leveraging RING’s built-in immutability and robust security features, ODP ensured long-term cyber resilience and regulatory compliance.

The platform enabled two-day capacity expansions without the need for additional hardware, thanks to RING’s flexibility and ODP’s efficient use of infrastructure. Seamless integration with Veeam simplified tenant onboarding, allowing for rapid service activation with minimal friction.

By provisioning and testing RING on existing x86 hardware already used for internal workloads, the team achieved rapid, cost-efficient deployment with minimal capital expenditure. This streamlined approach not only accelerated onboarding but also freed up internal resources, allowing the infrastructure team to focus on packaging and delivering new services to customers without delay.

Following deployment, ODP rapidly scaled its backup-as-a-service platform to support both new and existing customers with enhanced security, high-performance data recovery, and rigorous security and sovereignty standards under ISO frameworks.

Oman Vision 2040 positions digital infrastructure as a cornerstone of the country’s economic and societal development. ODP’s deployment of Scality RING directly supports these national goals by strengthening Oman’s digital backbone, accelerating digital services across sectors, and maintaining full data sovereignty through in-country hosting.

Although AI workloads are still in early stages across the region, ODP is proactively building the infrastructure to support them.
