Scality’s leaders have created Le Club to recognize and reward team members selected each year for their exceptional contribution to the company. 

Together with this acknowledgment, Le Club members are also offered the opportunity of taking a trip together, to rest and enjoy the Scality spirit outside the workplace.

For the year 2017, 20 employees have been chosen. Scality will publish a profile of a different team member every other week.

Meet Nicolas Rivaton

Nicolas Rivaton is an enthusiastic runner. It’s not however the competitive spirit that motivates him. What Nicolas likes best is running with his friends, supporting each other and going across the finish line all together. At work too, Nicolas does his best to assure the success of his team. As project manager in customer services, his role is to make sure that every installation of the Scality software is going well from the beginning to the end. He listens carefully to the customers’ needs and in turn explains them in detail to his colleagues who install the product.

When Nicolas arrived at Scality, nearly two years ago, his position didn’t exist yet. There was therefore the exciting challenge of creating something new. Quickly, Nicolas managed to make his mark. “Nicolas is highly motivated to make things work for the rest of the team. In a meeting, he is often the first one to talk and when there is a problem, the first one to suggest a solution. He really makes life easier for his colleagues,” confides his manager.

Nicolas Rivaton is a project manager for Scality's EMEA Technical Services TeamBoth self disciplined and detail oriented, Nicolas has taken to his job like a duck to water. He has to make sure that every step is followed in the correct order, every problem is fixed in the shortest time possible and every solution is written down to serve as an example for the next time. “Everything must be perfect, even the way you do the layout of a document. I always try to pass this message on to my colleagues and help them in this task, because, even if it seems more work initially, it’s the only way to reach the goal,” he reveals.

Nicolas’ dedication goes so far that he’s never satisfied doing simply the job he is asked to do. He always goes beyond to try to improve things. Recently, for example, he completely automatized a tool which measures the teams performance, so now it can be used more efficiently.

With his colleagues too, Nicolas isn’t happy just putting in the minimum. “I try my best to help them, especially the ones who are remote. I phone them at least once a day to know if they need anything,” he says. During meetings, he never forgets to mention the names of his coworkers who contributed to a project.

Outside work too, Nicolas likes to maintain a strong team spirit. During parties or trips like the one he just took to Canada with Le Club, he really enjoys getting to know all the different facets of his colleagues and having fun with them. When they have breaks at work, he is one of the first to invite people to play babyfoot or card games.

Recently, Nicolas revealed even more of his generous nature. He took part in La Course du Cœur, a 4-day team race between Paris and Bourg-Saint-Maurice to raise awareness for organ donation. As captain for the Scality team, Nicolas was, once again, really motivated to prepare his colleagues for the event, as well as let people know about the cause they were running for.

In the future, Nicolas doesn’t plan on slowing down. He hopes to lead a team of project managers where together they could improve even more the software installation process. For Nicolas, there is nothing you can’t achieve as a team.
