Scality’s leaders have created Le Club to recognize and reward team members selected each year for their exceptional contribution to the company.
Together with this acknowledgment, Le Club members are also offered the opportunity of taking a trip together, to rest and enjoy the Scality spirit outside the workplace.
For the year 2017, 20 employees have been chosen. Scality will publish a profile of a different team member every other week.
Meet Erwan Girard
Erwan is very driven. He never stops and isn’t afraid of going the extra mile, like grabbing a flight to go and meet the right people to move things forward. Everyone who knows Erwan Girard will tell you that he has amazing energy and this energy is highly contagious. “Erwan’s enthusiasm is really catchy, it pushes you to surpass yourself,” says one of his colleagues.
At Scality, where he has been for one and a half years now, Erwan has shown a lot of determination. In this short period of time, he has been able to have a huge impact on the company’s success. As director of product management, a role where he has to explain to the engineers what the clients want, Erwan put in place an extremely detailed list of requirements, created by the customers, so that the engineers knew exactly what they had to do. He also introduced special meetings during which the engineers could talk directly to the leadership about any problems they were facing and what they needed to do to progress. That made the engineers’ work easier and more efficient, which allowed them to produce a lot more features of the Scality software in 2016 than in the previous year.
Erwan owes his success not only to his enthusiasm, his hard work and his appetite for efficiency, but also to his people skills. He is a good listener and he knows how to motivate his colleagues so that they can give of their best. “I always encourage people and show them how important their work is. I also make them understand that in order to succeed they must take their future in their own hands, be proactive and only look forward, never backward”, he confides. Straightforward, Erwan never hesitates to point out any problems, whilst always helping people to find solutions.
Hungry for new challenges, Erwan recently accepted another mission, that of simplifying the customer’s experience with the Scality software. Once again he has embraced this task with passion, interviewing a lot of the start-up employees and exchanging ideas with them. “I have been given many different missions that are more and more challenging every time. The knowledge that I can really improve things and help people to succeed, that’s what strongly motivates me every day,” he reveals.
Outside work too, Erwan feels truly happy. First and foremost are his three children. He loves spending time with them, going on bike rides together and on holiday every summer to the seaside. As energetic as ever, Erwan is also a sport enthusiast. He runs, cycles, boxes, roller skates and practises martial arts. It’s a way for him to leave any tensions behind and be rejuvenated. “Between my children, my job and sport, I have found a perfect balance. I keep busy all the time and I love doing everything I do. I couldn’t be happier,” he concludes.
