Marc Villemade is an internet entrepreneur and developer with 15 years of internet startup experience. He studied Fundamental Physics, later graduating cum laude from Paris 6 University in France with a degree in Computer Science.
In 1998, while still a student, Marc started his first IT services company during the Internet Bubble. After graduation, looking for new challenges, he sold his shares and joined MultiMania (later acquired by Lycos), the then leading French web host, as a development engineer and worked his way up to the head of the Systems Architecture team.
Marc went on to create his own consulting company, acting as System Architect and DBA for Enterprises and ISPs, specializing in solving complex scalability problems from 2005 to 2007, when the first hints of Cloud Computing started emerging. In 2008, he joined Bizanga as Customer Solutions Engineer to handle pre- and post-sales activities in Europe; he swiftly moved to sales and went on to open the Japanese offices of Bizanga. When Bizanga spun Scality off, Marc joined the new venture, and went on to open offices for Scality in Japan and New York.
During his tenure at Scality, Marc has leveraged his adaptability skills and his passion for learning to take on multiple roles from Sales to Partnership management to Sales Engineer and Lead Architect for the Americas. More recently, Marc has become Chief Solutions Architect and SE Community Manager, helping the global Community of Sales Engineers at Scality.
He now lives in San Francisco.
