Jérôme Lecat is a serial entrepreneur and business angel with 20 years of internet infrastructure start-up experience.

From 2003 to 2010, Jerome led Bizanga, the leading email MTA for service providers, which he founded with Olivier Lemarié, Marc Sheldon and Giorgio Regni. Bizanga achieved major market penetration worldwide and was successfully sold to Cloudmark in February 2010.

In 2001, Jerome became Chairman of the Board of Data Center Technology (DCT), a Belgium based start-up which developed a unique Content Addressable Storage (CAS) technology, especially for the backup market. After signing over 70 customers, DCT was sold to Veritas in 2005 with significant profit for its investors.

In 1994, together with Olivier Dauchot and Olivier Lemarié, Jérôme founded Internet-Way, an ISP focused on the enterprise market. As CEO, he built the company from a garage start-up to the second largest ISP in France. In 1997, after the company had reached profitability, he sold the company to UUNET, where he served as Vice President of Products for EMEA.

Jérôme has also been active as a business angel and Board member in several leading technology companies, including Vision Objects, the world leader in handwriting recognition, which was sold to DoubleDay in 2009.

Jérôme holds an engineering degree from the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, and a research master’s degree in Cognitive Science from Université Paris VII. Jérôme attended the AMD program at INSEAD. Jérôme is very active building bridges between Silicon Valley and the French Tech scene. He lives in Mill Valley with his wife Anna, also an entrepreneur (www.leslunes.com ), and sons Nathan and Alexandre. Jerome and Anna are passionate about supporting artists, teachers and entrepreneurs who are game changers and who work hard for their dreams, while living authentic and mindful lives.

A veteran of open source and commercial development projects, Giorgio’s expertise ranges from leading the development of an open-source content management system to designing and implementing a POS system for restaurants used in over 5,000 restaurants in Europe. He’s specialized in high performance network and infrastructure software.

Giorgio, who joined Bizanga shortly after its inception, started as a lead developer for core IMP application and firmware before overseeing the company’s development activities as VP Engineering. He holds an engineering degree in computer science from INSA (Institut National des Sciences Appliquées) in Toulouse.

Erwan Menard

At Scality, Erwan manages all aspects of the company’s customer facing activities, including direct sales, channels and global alliances, field engineering and customer support.

Erwan is a storage and telecommunications industry veteran. From 2011 to 2013, he was Chief Operating Officer at DataDirect Networks (DDN), the largest privately-held storage company world-wide, where he achieved significant annual growth. Under his leadership, the DDN team entered new markets, successfully launched DDN’s object storage product and redesigned the company’s customer experience, from demand generation through support. Prior to DDN, Erwan spent fifteen years in the telecom industry, most recently as Vice President and General Manager, leading HP’s Communications and Media Solutions group. From 2008 to 2011, he managed this 2400 person team and $700M revenue business unit, delivering software and system integration services to service providers around the globe. Prior to leading this successful turnaround of HP’s telecom business, Menard held international business management positions at Alcatel, and Alcatel-Lucent, and managed operations in Asia, North America and Europe, in the areas of wireless network infrastructure and applications software. He notably transformed the wireless business of Alcatel in the USA during the 2004-2007 period, in the context of the acquisition of Spatial Wireless.

Erwan holds en engineering degree from Telecom Sud’ Paris in France, also known as the National Institute for Telecommunications. He lives near San Francisco with his wife Melanie and their kids Nolwenn, Hoel and Yann.

Philippe Mechanick is the CFO at Scality. He has more than 30 years of experience in Finance, mostly working within the Hi-Tech sector. His career has included positions at Ernst & Young, Unisys and US-based Goal Systems International where he held the role of International Finance Director. Further roles included that of CFO at Nasdaq-listed Sapiens International Corporation and later, senior finance roles at UB Networks and CFO at Nat Systems, PolySpace Technologies, Nemoptic and Volubill. For 5 years, Philippe worked in the banking sector as the CFO of the French subsidiary of Capital One, a leading US consumer credit company.
Philippe Mechanick is a graduate of the Rouen Business School (ESC Rouen).

Daniel began his career at Internet Way in 1995 as a network engineer and managed the company’s customer services until the merger with UUNet in 1997.

After the merger, he led the architecture, deployment, and operations of the network. From 1999 to 2001, he joined the American headquarters in Washington, DC, where he took part in the migration of one of the biggest IP networks to a new generation of protocol. He returned to France with MCI, now part of UUNet, and directed the architecture of data networks for southern Europe, overseeing the networks’ convergence.

From 2003 to 2005, Daniel co-built a company seeded by EDF, Fludia, that specializes in the collection and analysis of power consumption data. He then helped B3G Telecom, a leading provider of IP Centrex services in France, grow in its operations and engineering before joining Bizanga in March 2007.

Daniel holds a master’s degree in systems and networks from EPITA (Ecole Pour l’Informatique et les Techniques Avancées).

Serge has a finely honed ability to quickly identify precise technology solutions for specific client business needs and, as a result, to enable customer satisfaction in a growth environment. These core skills are augmented by his broad international experience and sensitivity to local markets.

With more than 20 years of experience in international telecommunications and financial services industries, Serge has held a variety of sales and marketing leadership roles with leading US-based hardware or software providers. Serge served in a global financial services marketing leadership role at Sun Microsystems in Palo Alto, California, and in a sales management role in its Asia Pacific operation, based in Singapore.

Prior to joining Bizanga, he grew Kabira Technology from having one employee in Europe to being a leader in the OSS market for Telco.

Serge started his career as a consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he led the banking audit practice for the French-based US banks. He holds an MBA from IEA and an economics degree from CNAM University, in addition to being a certified public accountant.

Dan Green

At Scality, Dan leads the core/sustaining development, quality and release efforts on Scality’s RING software defined storage solution.

A hi-tech veteran, Dan has spent over 20 years in various technical and leadership roles across the US and Asia-Pacific. He has built multiple engineering teams from the ground up and has been relocated internationally multiple times to help establish new offices, teams and products. Prior to joining Scality, Dan held multiple engineering leadership roles at VMware including the ESX Storage, Application Storage and as-a-Service teams. He built and lead teams in Palo Alto, Cambridge, India and China (including a 2.5 year assignment in Beijing). Before that, Dan was a member of the EMC PowerPath organization, leading various teams in Cambridge and Bangalore. His relocation to India was instrumental in building the EMC R&D offices in Bangalore. Dan started his hi-tech career at MITRE Corporation, developing operational products and leading teams in support of various US Agencies.

An avid foodie, Dan’s recent relocation to Paris has his waistline trembling in fear. Dan holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering (Computer) from Northeastern University.

Will owns the definition and execution of Scality’s Americas go-to-market plan, and manages the Americas direct sales team.

Will is a very experienced storage sales leader, having led teams at Netapp and Fusion IO. Over his 10 years at NetApp, Will spearheaded efforts in new strategic accounts such as Chevron and Electronic Arts, as well as led regional direct sales efforts. Will then moved to Fusion IO where he was the VP of Worldwide OEMs and Strategic Partners including: HP, IBM, Dell, Lenovo, Cisco, Synnex, and Supermicro.

Will, his wife and kids live in Los Altos, CA. Beside driving sales success, Will is passionate about running half marathons and spending time with his 3 boys. Will has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Oregon.

David Harvey

VP Strategic Alliances

David is responsible for Scality’s business through Alliances and Channels, while providing overlaying sponsorship on specific strategic accounts that drive strategic growth of the company. Global development of our indirect go-to-market with specific companies is a critical part of the companies growth. It is focused on hardware, consultancy and Value Added Resellers that share similar visions or synergies to Scality and its portfolio.

David has more than 17 years of experience in global technology companies. Most recently, he was at Message Systems as the SVP of Corporate Development and Product Management, where he developed the strategic roadmap in addition to leading the business transformation project for predictable, scalable growth. Earlier, he was SVP of International Sales & Business Development where he took the company global throughout Europe and Asia while also developing a marquee global partnership with the world’s largest security company. David has also held leadership roles at Bizanga, Savvis, and Cable & Wireless.

David lives in Lafayette with his fiancé and can be found on the golf course or cycling the San Francisco countryside.

Bradley King

As chief architect, Brad is responsible for the design of the largest systems Scaity is deploying around the world. These include multi-petabye, multi-site systems, with hundreds of servers.

Brad began his multifaceted career as a naval architect with the French navy, performing numerical simulations of ship capsize and waves around large ships. He then joined a Schlumberger research lab in Paris for several years, where he worked on turbulent fluid dynamics, laboratory automation, large-scale parallel numerical simulations, and new internet technologies, which included monitoring of NCSA projects (such as Mosaic) funded by Schlumberger.

In 1999, he and a partner started the Paris office of Software.com, a provider of email software including Post.Office. After Software.com merged with Phone.com, Brad continued with the new company, Openwave, in a pre-sales position working with fixed and mobile operators throughout Europe, selling messaging solutions, WAP gateways, MMSCs, embedded handset software, and location-based solutions. He joined Bizanga Labs in 2008 as an architect designing messaging security systems and large distributed storage systems.

Brad holds a PhD degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Leo is responsible for Scality’s corporate positioning and overall content strategy across all channels.

Leo was previously VP of Product and VP of Marketing for Oxygen Cloud, a cloud data management company with file sync and share, and managed file transfer products. Prior to that, he was at EMC for seven years in a range of product management, product marketing, and strategy roles across traditional storage products like VNX and research projects like P2P storage. Notably, Leo was product manager for EMC Atmos Online and service provider products and later led strategy and product marketing for all Atmos products. Prior to EMC, he was a graphic designer, web designer, and art director. Leo lives in Belmont, CA with his family and enjoys (real) barbecuing, DJ’ing, and basketball. Leo has an M.B.A. from the Tepper School of Business and a B.A. from Tufts University.

Tom Leyden joins Scality to drive the product strategy for the Scality RING storage platform.

Over the past seven years, Tom educated the market about the benefits and opportunities of emerging technologies such as cloud computing and object storage, built strong relations with key influential press and analysts, and became a thought leader. Tom has 15 years of experience working for disruptive technology companies. He has been involved in several successful startups, including data deduplication pioneer DCT (acquired by Symantec) and cloud innovator Q-layer (Sun/Oracle). After the Q-layer acquisition, Tom worked for Sun Microsystems and Oracle, in the Sun Cloud and Oracle OVM product management teams. At the time, Tom was one of the earliest cloud computing evangelists, so shifting his focus to object storage and big data was a natural and logic process. Most recently, he evangelized object storage at Amplidata and DDN.

Tom often speaks and writes on upcoming trends and paradigms. Today, Tom is helping the industry to understand the value of software-defined storage for the software-defined data center and how object storage enables major service providers, enterprises and media giants to unify storage tiers. Vianney Rancurel

Director of Research

Vianney Rancurel is a computer professional with more than 20 years of experience designing and developing computer products. He currently leads the Scality research team which is responsible for feasibility studies, prototypes and patents/publications.

Previously he worked in the messaging and telco industries on both software and hardware technologies at Bizanga, Borea Technologies, and Freescale. He was also a professor at the EPITA engineering school and was responsible for its System Research Lab. His specialities are system software programming, distributed systems, embedded systems and security.

Vianney lives with his family in Paris, is an avid piano player and has a degree as a Systems & Networks Engineer from EPITA.

Paul leads Product Management for Scality, where he is responsible for defining RING functionality, solutions and roadmaps.

Before Scality, he was fortunate to have been part of several exciting cloud computing and early-stage storage companies, including Appcara, where he was focused on cloud application automation solutions; Q-layer, one of the first cloud orchestration companies (the last company acquired by Sun Microsystems); and Savvis, where he led the launch of the Savvis VPDC cloud service. In the storage space, Paul was VP of Products for Amplidata focused on object storage, and Agami Systems, building scalable, high-performance NAS solutions. Paul has over 20 years of industry experience that spans both Fortune 500 companies such as IBM (twice) and Oracle, as well as venture-funded startups, and has been a speaker and panelist at many industry conferences.

Paul lives in Southern California, with his wife Jen and two kids Christiana and Paolo. He loves backpacking, cars, and is a long-standing UCLA Bruin football and basketball fan, from which he holds Masters & Bachelors degrees in Applied Mathematics and Computing.
